    Alex Ross|Updated Feb 20, 2018

Several Republicans looking to unseat Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., blasted him Sunday night at the Blaine and Hill county Republican central committees' Lincoln-Reagan Dinner for not supporting the agenda of President Donald Trump. The slew of attacks against Tester, a farmer from west of Big Sandy, comes as he is running for a third term to the U.S. Senate. Tester is one of a handful of Democrats being targeted by Republicans in states Trump carried in 2016. State Sen. Al...

That meant, in girls basketball, it was going to be tough sledding for the Morning Stars because they were joining the toughest district in all of Class B basketball. And while it was always an uphill climb, Rocky Boy is finally standing alone atop the 1B. Saturday night in Conrad, the Morning Stars captured their first 1B...

    Alex Ross|Updated Feb 20, 2018

Greg Gianforte, R-Mont., said Tuesday during a roundtable discussion with area agriculture producers at Havre Inn and Suites. "The president is talking about spending on rural infrastructure. I would put the St. Mary's at the top of the list in terms of the needs of rural Montana, but we...

  • MORE THAN MINUTES

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 20, 2018

When Brandy Lambourne walked off the floor of the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls following her last high school basketball game, she did so with about as much glory and success as a high school player from Havre could ever hope for. On that March night in 2014, she'd just helped the Havre Blue Ponies win their first girls Class A state championship in 17 years, she'd led the tournament in scoring, and she'd go on to be named the Class A State Tournament Most Valuable Player...

  • Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

    Updated Feb 20, 2018

Eddie Harmon, Turner Boys Basketball The Turner boys basketball team didn’t make it out of the District 9C tournament this past weekend in Havre. But it wasn’t for a lack of production from senior Eddie Harmon. In three 9C games last week, Harmon averaged 22 points and eight rebounds per game. He scored 10 points in an opening-round loss to Fort Benton but then exploded for 26 points in a win over Big Sandy and 25 in a narrow loss to Hays-Lodge Pole. Harmon is also a def...

  • George Ferguson Column: No surprise, the 9C was memorable

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 20, 2018

Another District 9C tournament is in the books. And what a magical ride it was. It goes without saying that the 9C tournament isn’t just one of the most exciting tournaments on the high school basketball tournament, it’s also one of the best. And this year was no exception to that. There were a ton of magical moments last week inside the HHS gymnasium — perhaps none bigger than the Turner girls, who placed third and are headed to the Northern C Divisional for the first time in...

  • Ponies hope to make Metra noise

    Chris Peterson|Updated Feb 20, 2018

The Havre High boys basketball team has enjoyed few victories this season, in fact only three, after a 3-15 regular season. Thankfully for the Blue Ponies, outside of seeding, that record won't mean much this week at the Eastern A Divisional Tournament. Yes, Havre will have a longer road than all but three other teams in the tournament, but the fact remains, the Ponies need to win three games in the tournament, which starts Wednesday at the Rimrock Auto Arena at the Metra in...

  • 9C boys teams ready to face a loaded Northern C

    Chris Peterson|Updated Feb 20, 2018

The Chinook Sugarbeeters dominated the District 9C this season, sweeping the regular season and tournament titles. But now the Beeters have a much bigger challenge ahead of them - trying to make it out of the Northern C. Last season, Chinook made a run at doing just that, winning a couple of games and getting to the semifinals before losing out. This time around, however, the Beeters come in with a 20-1 record. The problem, is they aren't the only loaded team headed to Great...
