  • Letter to the Editor - Support HB 192 to prevent revenge porn

    Updated Feb 21, 2019

Dear editor, It’s frustrating to hear statistics like: 1 in 50 people will be victims of revenge porn within the general public and now suffer mental health implications. Of these people, many are also often ashamed or scared to come forward. Victims of revenge porn often lose their jobs or find themselves unable to get a job as a result of this nonconsensual sharing of someone’s photos. House Bill 192 would be a tool to help stop the amount of people negatively affected by revenge porn and help protect Montanans. It is imp...

  • Looking out my Backdoor: A road less traveled

    Sondra Ashton|Updated Feb 21, 2019

Jim phoned, “Would you like to go to El Amparo? John and Carol are coming. Be ready in half an hour.” I’ve been wanting to go see the ghost town of El Amparo for three years. Beginning in the early 1500s, the mines were a rich source of gold and silver. From boom town Etzatlan, miners trudged over the mountains to work and brought back refined minerals through our town to Guadalajara to Spain. In the heyday of El Amparo, historians and local stories confirm that the minin...

  • Bears roar past Huskies, Tornadoes blow by Simms at Northern C

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 21, 2019

GREAT FALLS - In the Northern C, there's no matchup quite like Box Elder and Belt. The two teams have been the dominant forces in the Northern C girls for a long, long time. And in an interesting twist of fate, they renewed their rivalry in the first round of the 2019 Northern C extravaganza. And while Belt, of longtime head coach Jeff Graham came in with a district title under its belt, it mattered none to the defending Class C state champion Bears as they outscored the...

The two teams met in the afternoon in Billings at the Rimrock Auto Arena at the Metra and after some struggles, especially in the first half, Havre eventually pulled away for the 46-35 win, which was the Ponies 43r...
