Havre third at state

Levi Briese scored four goals and added two assists to lead Havre to a 8-7 win over the Glacier Avalanche in the third-fourth place game of the state bantam hockey tournament this past weekend and the Ice Dome.

Also for Havre, Ben Erickson added two goals and two assists, Chaz Hurlburt chipped in with a goal and an assist, and Corey Stremcha, Josh Strissel and Josh Morse each had two assists.

Havre opened the tournament with a 6-5 defeat of the Missoula Bruins.

Briese and Hurlburt each a goal and an assist for Havre, which had six different players score a goal.

Havre then defeated Gillette 9-4 behind Briese's hat trick. Morse added two goals, and Michael Anderson and Hurlburt each had a goal and an assist.

Havre lost to the tournament's eventual champion, Butte, 11-8 despite six goals by Briese.

Tyson Anderson had a goal and two assists, and Jordan Patterson and Stremcha each had two assists for Havre.

Goalie Mark Larson made 133 saves in the tournament.
