KATIE HOFER

HARLEM Katie J. Hofer, 81, died Sunday, March 25, 2001 at her home on the North Harlem Colony of Parkinson's complications.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the North Harlem Hutterian Brethren Church with interment to follow at the North Harlem Colony Cemetery.

Hofer was born Oct. 8, 1919 at Hanover to David and Mary Stahl. She was raised and educated in Beadle County, S.D.

On July 4, 1940, she married Joseph Hofer and moved to Stirling, Alberta, Canada. In 1947, they moved to Danvers and in 1963, they moved to North Harlem.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, cross-stitching and, above all, singing hymns and immersing herself in God's word.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, five grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Pastor Joseph Hofer of Harlem; children, Eli, Ben, Mary and Joe Hofer Jr., all of Harlem, Joshua Hofer of Lethbridge, Alberta, Dave Hofer of Huntley, Elizabeth Walter of Ballantine and Barbara Hofer of Butte; sister, Susie Hofer; brothers, Dave Stahl, Jake Stahl and Paul Stahl, all of Roundup; 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
