Walleye tourney pays out $9,424

The Fresno Walleye Challenge took place on May 18 and 19th at the Fresno Reservoir west of Havre.

At the close of the tournament on Day 1, Ferdinand Marolt and Reg Smith held the first place position with a five-fish total of 11.6, the team also took home the prize for largest walleye on Day 1.

Dale Hawks and Don Wolf had the largest walleye on Day 2, closing out the tournament in second place. Marolt and Smith took first overall at conclusion of the two-day event with a total weight of 19.39. The team was awarded $2,000 for their win.

Dick and Lori Allran came in third place, taking home $625, with a total weight of 17.34. Other prizes were awarded in the Adult-Child Finals, with Craig and Jamie Phalp taking first place, Bob and Bobby Hickey taking second and Bill and Jordan Dasinger coming in third. In Mixed Couple Finals, Dick and Lori Allran took, Neil Swarts and Angela Hawks came in second and Craig and Jamie Phalp took third.

Dave Hickman and Jim Edwards caught the largest northern pike on Day 1 with Randy Loff and Pete Rumpza catching the largest on Day 2. The Cool Under Pressure prize went to Dan Klinger and Randy Redfern.
