Lewistown delivers loss to Havre

The Havre High Blue Ponies are tired of losing close games and traveled to Lewistown Saturday night in hopes of ending a four-game losing streak.

But in a back-and-forth game, it was the Eagles who finally pulled out the 64-61 victory at the buzzer. Lewistown moved to 8-6 on the season and are currently in fourth place in the Central A division. With the loss, Havre fell to 3-11 and are seventh in the division.

The Ponies and the Eagles were tied at 15 at the end of the first quarter, but Lewistown came back to outscore the Ponies 17-9 to take a 32-24 lead at the half.

Havre responded after the halftime break to outscore Lewistown 24-11 and take a 48-43 lead into the final eight minutes of play. Havre kept the lead for most of the fourth quarter, but Lewistown poured on the heat late, pulling out the 64-61 victory. The Eagles outscored the Ponies 21-13 in the fourth quarter.

Mike Frey led the Ponies with 16 points and Trent Normandy and Titus Pedraza added 10 apiece.
