Breaking Sports: Chinook and Big Sandy moving on; C/J-I falls

The top-ranked Chinook Sugarbeeters got a fight from the Drummond Trojans, but in the end, the Beeters are back in the Class C 8-man semifinals. Saturday in Chinook, the Beeters outlasted Drummond 48-42 to advance to the semifinal round. Chinook got 171 yards rushing from Ben Stroh, who also returned a kickoff for a score. Zach Molyneaux also rushed for 92 yards, while Drummond rallied late froma 48-20 fourth-quarter deficit.

Chinook will now move on to next Saturday where the Beeters travel to Fairview. Chinook and Fairview are both 10-0 on the season.

In Big Sandy, the Big Sandy Pioneers advanced to the Class C Six-Man semifinals for the second straight season after a 56-7 romp over Fromberg-Roberts. Justin Stevens scored three times and Jessey Baily had a pair of touchdowns, while quarterback Trevor Lackner threw for a pair of scores and also returned a punt 60 yards for another TD. Big Sandy led 26-0 at halftime and 48-0 before the Falcons got on the board.

Big Sandy (9-1) will now try and avenge its only loss of the season when the Pioneers travel to Svage next Saturday. Big Sandy also lost to Savage in last year's Six-Man semifinals.

In another Class C 8-man quarterfinal on Saturday, the Chester/J-I Hawks saw their season come to an end. The Hawks ran into a buzzsaw in Twin Bridges, losing 64-22. C/J-I's season ended Saturday with an 8-2 overall record.
