Area wrestlers succeed in Great Falls

It wasn't just the Havre Blue Ponies who made headline at this weekend's CMR Holiday Classic in Great Falls.

As expected, several Chinook and Harlem wrestlers were also in the mix at what is considered Montana's toughest regular season high school tournament.

Chinook's senior duo of Ben Stroh and Jorrell Jones were both crowned CMR champions on Saturday. Stroh earned his third Holiday title by pinning Forsyth's Daryl Fulton in the 189-pound final. Stroh's 81st consecutive pin, gave him the Quick Pin Award, with all five of his pins coming in a span of 6:32.

Jones also rolled, earning a 6-0 decision over Missoula Big Sky's Darby Maier in the 215-pound championship match. As a team, the Beeters scored 73 points and finished 17th overall.

Harlem finished in a tie for 20th with 57 points. The Wildcats got a pair of fourth-place finishes from Shay Snider (105) and Teague Jones (112).

The Chester/J-I Hawks and Big Sandy Pioneers also competed in the prestigious event. The Hawks scored 19 points and finished 34th overall, while the Pioneers took 39th with 13 total points.

Next up for Hi-Line teams is the tough, Cut Bank Invitational Jan. 6-7.
