MSU-N grapplers head to Wyoming

The Montana State University-Northern wrestling team is coming off a disappointing, season-opening home loss to the North Idaho Cardinals last Friday night in Havre.

Now the No.

Montana State University-Northern's Cameron Neiss, left, ties up a North Idaho wrestler during last Friday night's dual at the Armory Gymnasium. The Lights are on the road for the first time this season when they face Western Wyoming tonight.

12 Lights will look to re-start their season with a dual at Western Wyoming Community College tonight. MSU-N is Rock Springs, Wyo., tonight to face the Mustangs in a dual meet which starts at 7.

Tonight's dual is the start of a busy stretch of wrestling for the Lights, who will then travel to Laramie, Wyo., to compete in the Cowboy Open at the University of Wyoming on Saturday. The Lights then head back to Powell, Wyo., next Saturday to compete in the Trapper Open hosted by Northwest College.

The Lights have six nationally-ranked wrestlers led by No. 1-ranked Ethan Hinbauch at 165 pounds. Max Payne is ranked fifth at 174 pounds, Mickey Cheff is ranked sixth at 157, Cameron Neiss is ranked 11th at 133, though he's moved up to 141, while Hunter Azure is ranked 11th at the same weight, and Kody Reed is ninth at 184.

Northern's next home dual is set for Nov. 15 when they host Northwest College.
