Last finance report for local legislative candidate goes online

The last campaign finance report of Havre-centered legislative candidates went online this morning, with Democrat Karen Sloan reporting she collected $4,185.05 from June 21 through Oct. 20.

The reports were due Oct. 25. A representative of the office of the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices said the exact time the report reached the office is unsure — the copy used was postmarked Oct. 27 and received Oct. 29, but also may have been faxed earlier.

Sloan's report shows the lowest amount collected by a local legislative candidate in the period ending Oct. 25. With the amount she still had in the bank, her total bank for the period was $4,972. Sloan reported that, as of Oct. 20, she had spent $1,963.28 and still had $3,009.33 in the bank.

Her opponent, Rep. Wendy Warburton, R-Chinook, reported receiving $8,040 from June 26 through Oct. 25, with $10,532.02 including what she had in the bank, and an ending total of $3,032.29 after spending $7,499.73.

Sloan's receipts included $960 from six Political Action Committees, and $750 from Democratic committees. The Hill County Democrats contributed $340, while $250 came from Blaine County and $160 from Liberty County.

Her total also included $1,925 from contributions between $35 and $160 and $550 from contributions of less than $35.

The reports of all local legislative candidates are available online at the Commissioner of Political Practices website at http://politicalpractices.mt.gov/ at the "Search for candidate or committee activity" link.
