Rehberg spokesman: Tester comments 'dishonest and pathetic'

A spokesman for U. S. Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., who is challenging Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., in his bid for re-election, said comments made by Tester about Rehberg during a get-out-the-vote rally in Havre Monday are a dishonest attempt to save Tester's job, including comments about Rehberg voting against increasing research for prosthetics for veterans.

"Senator Tester's attacks are dishonest and pathetic, " Rehberg spokesman Chris Bond said. "In reality, Tester is a garden-variety liberal career politician who has supported President Barack Obama's job-killing, liberal agenda 95 percent of the time.

"Tester voted against sportsmen when he put Obama's anti-gun judges on the Supreme Court, he voted against seniors when he passed Obama's $716 billion in Medicare cuts, and he voted against Montana jobs when he supported the Obama EPA regulations that are shuttering a Montana power plant, " Bond said. "That's the awful record Jon Tester has to offer Montanans, no matter what he says to try and save his own job. "

Bond, when asked about Rehberg's vote against sending a bill back to committee to add $28 million for prosthetic research, paid for through savings found in the military budget, said that Rehberg voted for the same amount Tester had previously voted for in the Senate. The U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs research budget increases spending on traumatic brain injury research to 28.5 million in 2013, up from $21.4 million in 2011.
