Stolen gloves show poor values

Editor:

To the man who stood behind me at the checkout of O'Reilly's Auto Parts late Tuesday afternoon:

I was wearing my gloves because I had been working on my car, outside, in subzero temperatures. I came to O'Reilly's, got the antifreeze I needed, then took my gloves off to pay for it. I set my gloves down and went to the back while the employees there graciously let me mix my antifreeze, but then when I came back, my gloves were gone, and so were you. The employees there took a few minutes to look for them, and when I described them, one employee remembered them sitting where I left them, and remembered you taking them.

He did not know, at the time, that they were my gloves, and unfortunately, no one recognized you or knew your name.

So now, I'm driving back and forth to work from Chinook, in the middle of winter, with no gloves, in a car that obviously has a few problems, with no gloves — because you chose to take them. It's evident that your father neglected to instill any values into you, and I sincerely hope that you needed those gloves — which were a gift from my father — more than I do.
