Hi-Line darts and laurels

Dart — Justice of the Peace Linda Budeski stalked off the bench in Livingston Monday when supporters of former Rep. Joel Boniek started taunting her and questioning whether the court had the right to hear the charges police had filed against the former "lawmaker." Then Boniek took charge of the courtroom and declared the charges against him dismissed. The judge should have brought an end of the circus by calling in sheriff's deputies and had the disrupters carted off to jail where they could cool their heels until they learned to respect the basics of civil society. Livingston hasn't seen the end of these clowns.

Laurel — Hundreds of people ate Thanksgiving dinner at St. Jude Parish Center Thursday because one person paid for the meal, several businesses donated food and countless people volunteered time. It was a great celebration of the spirit of Havre.

Laurel — Speaking of the spirit of Havre, countless people volunteered to put on the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Town square, which starts at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. It's a fine time that epitomizes the Christmas season spirit. Stop by and take part in the fun.

Laurel — School groups, senior citizens, community organizations and people off the street are donating money and food to the Havre Food Bank. As always, the food bank faces an uphill climb to feed the needy of the community. At least the people at the food bank and the people served by it know they have the support of the community.

Dart — Some of the small-town feel of a community is lost when you have to lock your car doors to protect yourselves from thieves. But you have to. There has been another rash of car break-ins, where valuables, including guns, are being taken. A handful of people are disrupting life for the rest of us.

Laurel —The football season didn't quite end the way the Big Sandy Pioneers would have liked. But the Six-Man Football team will always be remembered as heroes by the community. Their little town has always had great heroes, including a rock star and a United States senator. Now Big Sandy can add the 2012 football team to the list.
