Top 10 Meet features plenty of Havre High thinclads

Severe spring storms dashed the hopes of local fans competing at the annual Top Ten track meet in Glasgow on Tuesday, but the poor weather only put a short pause on the action.

The meet was postponed until Wednesday, and tonight, the Havre High Blue Ponies are ready to get back to action.

Havre High senior Zach Plum clears the bar during the boys pole vault at the 2013 Cal Wearley Track Meet last month in Havre. Today, many Blue Pony athletes, as well as other Hi-LIne standouts will be at the Top 10 Meet in Glasgow. The meet was moved to today from Tuesday due to foul weather.

Athletes from all over the Hi-Line, and surrounding areas will compete in Glasgow tonight. For the Ponies, the Top Ten meet means the post season is just round the corner. And a standout performance in Glasgow tonight, could mean a standout performance at divisionals in Livingston in two weeks, as well as at the state meet in Laurel in three weeks.

The Central A Ponies have 10 girls competing in individual events.

Skylar Vukasin will compete in the 100-meter and the high jump. And Katie Christianson will compete in the 3,200-meter, while Jen Nordgulen will compete in the 100-meter, Megan Erickson will compete in the 800-meter, and Larissa Price and Haley Ohm will both compete in the 1,600-meter. Neya Bischoff will also compete in the javelin, while Martha Stocker will compete in the shot put, and Lacey Waid will compete in the pole vault fresh off a 10-0 jump over the weekend.

Both the 4x100 (Waid, Corissa White, Peyton Filius and Nordgulen), and the 4x400 relay teams (Christianson, Filius, Erickson, and Rachel David) will also compete.

Filius has already had a standout season to this point, and will look to put her stamp on the Top Ten. When not running the short relay, Filius will also compete in the 200-meter, the 400-meter, and the 800-meter.

The HHS boys also have five individuals competing tonight.

Marc Klimas will run the 3,200-meter, and Ryne Antley will compete in the javelin. The pole vaulting crew has three competitors. Thurman Holdsclaw, Thomas Gruber, and Zach Plum will all push their vaults to a new height, while Holdsclaw will also compete in the triple jump, and Plum will compete in the long jump.

Today the Ponies will compete in Glasgow at the Top Ten meet. Field events will begin at 3 p.m. and running events will begin at 4:15.
