Legislative video conferences start next week

The Havre Public Schools and Havre Area Chamber of Commerce again are teaming up to provide a connection to local lawmakers while they legislate in Helena.

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 15, the partners will offer a video conference with local legislators. Local residents are invited to go to the video conference, scheduled to run from noon to 1 p. m. in a meeting room on the second floor of the Robins Administrative Building on 6th Street, across from Dairy Queen, to ask their legislators about issues and hear updates on what is happening during the 2013 session.

The session convened Monday and is scheduled to run through April 23.

The video conferences have been held for several sessions, with the legislators meeting in Helena and a live feed connecting them to their constituents in the Robins building.

As available, the local legislators — Sens. Jonathan Windy Boy, D-Box Elder, and Greg Jergeson, D-Chinook, and Reps. Wendy Warburton, R-Chinook, Kris Hansen, R-Havre, and Clarena Brockie, D-Hays — will attend the sessions to update constituents and answer questions and take comments.

The video conferences are planned to be held each Tuesday while the Legislature is in session. No registration is required to attend the Havre sessions, which are free of charge.
