The Lights got off to a strong start with a team score of 654 after 36 windy holes Tuesday. That put Northern in sixth place, well ahead of Dickinson State and Montana Tech.

Individually, the Lights were led by Jeremy Jensen's opening-round, 2-over-par 74. Jensen fired an 81 in the second round. Matt Hedstrom opened with a solid 76, but shot an 85 in the second round. Justin Newton shot 81-80, while Royce Edwards fired a 90-87.

On the women's side, Northern isn't in the running in the team scores due to entering just three players. Ashley Hooper led the Skylights in round one with a 103-98. Taylor Faulkinberry shot 114-110 and Kirsten Bense shot 104-103.

The Frontier tourney wraps up today at Larchmont.

In local golf news, Men's League action got underway at Prairie Farms Golf Course this past week. Last Tuesday night saw Rock Solid score 26 points for high team. The team is composed of Gary Baltrusch, Rob Myers, Jarred Boyce and Jared Weigel. Kyle Sheppard and Jeff Jensen both shot 37 to share low gross, while Jacob Lorang was low net with a 29. No results from the first Wednesday night were reported.

Women's League at Prairie Farms, as well as men's league at Beaver Creek Golf Course should be getting underway soon.

The tournament calendar at Prairie Farms is up, and the first event on the schedule is the annual Natalie Patrick Foundation Scramble, set for June 15. There are three tournaments in June, two in July and three in August scheduled at this point.
