Laurel — Montana Attorney General Tim Fox joined attorneys general from 39 other states in calling for stricter enforcement of regulations on e-cigarettes. The attorneys believe that young people are being misled about how safe the cigarettes are.

Dart — Somebody is taking all of the clothes off the Free Clothes Fence, a charity run by Havreite Patty Brannigan. People donate clothes, and Brannigan displays them on the fence in her front yard, People in need of clothes can stop by and pick them up. This week, somebody came and took everything off the fence. It’s hard to call it stealing because the clothes are free, but it certainly is sleazy.

Laurel — Last week, Havre had its Festival Days. Again, it was a big success. Lots of people donated time and effort to make it a success, from the people who made floats for the parade to folks who flipped pancakes for the traditional breakfast to the Montana Department of Transportation that swept clean the parade route on 5th Avenue early Saturday morning. Thanks to all those who donated their time.

Dart — Judge G. Todd Baugh insists on hanging in there despite calls — demands — for his resignation. He has disgraced the judiciary with his comments on rape and a 14-year-old rape victim. The National Organization for Women-Montana is leading an effort get Baugh removed on ethical grounds. Such efforts are rarely successful, but we hope this one will be.

Laurel — Speaking of community festivals, Chinook has its celebration this weekend — the Sugarbeet Festival. It’s always a good time. It too is largely put on by volunteers. Stop over for some fun.
