Victim named in fatal crash

The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the victim of Sunday morning’s fatal motor vehicle crash.

Marcella Has The Eagle was a 50-year-old woman from Harlem in the passenger seat of a van that drove off U.S. Highway 2 around 4 a.m. Sunday.

The 29-year-old male driver and 21-year-old male passenger were also from Harlem and were injured in the crash.

Has The Eagle was not wearing her seat belt correctly at the time of the crash.

“It was on, but it wasn’t worn correctly,” Blaine County Undersheriff Frank Billmayer said.

Billmayer said the portion of the seat belt that runs from the buckle, across the shoulder and behind the passenger’s head was under her right arm, rerouting the seatbelt to run under both arms.

“If you’re going to do that with your seatbelt, it can contribute to injuries that lead to your death,” Billmayer said.
