Friends of the Library raise $1,698.51 at book sale

The Havre-Hill County Library staff would like to offer our sincere thanks to everybody who was involved in the annual Friends of the Library Book Sale. The amount raised was $1,698.51.

There were also 36 Book Bucks redeemed, given out as part of our Summer Reading Program.

Money raised by the book sale goes to the Friends of the Library and is used to support library programming, such as our Summer Reading Program and the Winter Reading Series.

The Friends of the Havre-Hill County Library meet every third Thursday at noon in the library meeting room. The next meeting is Oct. 16, and it is the annual meeting for paying dues. Pizza will be served and the annual dues of $1 per person will be collected.

Anybody who is interested is welcome to join the Friends of the Library any time of the year, but it’s always better when there’s pizza.

Top Ten Reasons to Join the Friends of the Havre-Hill County Library

1. You love books.

2. You love the library.

3. You want to meet new people.

4. You want to get involved in the community.

5. You have some great theories about what’s going to happen next in that series you’re reading, and you need some people to talk about them with.

6. You have $1 and you don’t know what to do with it. Don’t panic. We can help.

7. You’re a corporate spy for a prominent distributor of baked goods, and you need a recipe for a pie you tried at the annual Friends of the Library Pie Social.

8. You need something to do on your lunch break to get away from your co-workers. Bring lunch to the meeting, maybe somebody will want to trade their jell-o cup for your apple.

9. You haven’t been to the library recently, or ever, and you’re curious. That’s OK, we won’t judge.

10. Pizza.

If any one of these reasons applies to you, please join us Thursday, Oct. 16, at noon.

One of the programs that the Friends of the Library recently funded is Lego Time. Without money from the Friends the library could not have purchased the necessary materials for Lego Time. It’s thanks to the members of the Friends of the Library, and everybody who participates in the Friends’ fundraisers, that we are able to provide quality programming that is free for everybody. Lego Time is every Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 5. Like all library programming, Lego Time is free and open to everybody.
