Hi-Line Volleyball Roundup: Beeters complete unbeaten regular season

That’s it and that’s all. The regular season of high school volleyball on the Hi-Line is over. And now teams can focus solely on keeping their season alive as district tournaments will be held later this week.

On the last weekend of the regular season, the Chinook Sugarbeeters needed two wins to secure a perfect regular season, and just one to clinch the outright District 6C East championship. Thursday night, the Beeters got that win, thoroughly defeating rival Chester/J-I by scores of 25-18, 25-18 and 25-10. The win meant no one could catch Chinook in the final 6C East standings.

Hannah Weber totaled nine kills and 10 assists for the Beeters, while Katelyn Neibauer had four blocks and five service aces. C/J-I got seven kills from Erin Wolfe, while Allix Goldhahn had eight digs and two blocks.

Last Thursday also saw Box Elder wrap up fifth place in the 6C East. The Bears were home and swept Hays-Lodge Pole by scores of 25-9, 25-21 and 25-14. Tia Russell paced the Bears with four assists and five aces, while Corry Carrywater had four aces for the Thunderbirds.

The 6C East action continued Friday where C/J-I bounced back and picked up a big win at Big Sandy. The Hawks swept the young Pioneers by scores of 25-10, 25-14 and 25-11. The win gave C/J-I a shot at third place in the conference standings.

Erin Wolfe again led the C/J-I offense with eight kills, while Jeraca Tempel had five aces and Madeline Woods added five assists. Abby Gregory had four aces for Big Sandy, while Lisa Pegar totaled two blocks and Cheyenne Pegar had six digs.

In Class B action Friday night, Rocky Boy was swept by Conrad by scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 25-17, while Harlem lost a tough four-setter to Wolf Point, by scores of 25-16, 25-12, 20-25 and 25-17. In the loss, Harlem got 13 kills, 10 assists, three aces and one block from Erin LaMere.

Back in the Class C ranks Friday night, HLP wrapped up its regular season with a loss at Fort Benton. The Longhorns beat the T-Birds by scores of 25-10, 25-21 and 25-19. Shelby Denny had five kills for HLP, while Tomeya Doney had three assists and five digs.

And on the final night of the regular season, Chinook closed out its perfect regular season with a three-game sweep at Box Elder. The Beeters beat the Bears by scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-14.

Katelyn Neibauer had eight kills and Lauren Harshman had three blocks for the Beeters. Tyra Gopher tallied six kills and three aces, while Misty Baker had two stuff blocks for the Bears.

Saturday night also saw the North Star Knights hold on to second place in the 6C East. The Knights went on the road and dropped Big Sandy by scores of 25-12, 25-9 and 25-10. With the win, North Star will be the No. 2 seed at the upcoming district tourney.

Sam Pester totaled five kills and Graysen Spicher had 16 assists and a whopping 13 service aces for the Knights. The Pioneers got five digs and one assists from Maddy Reichelt in the loss.

In the last Class B match of the regular season, the steadily-improving Harlem Wildcats fell to Plentywood by scores of 25-13, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-13 Saturday night. In the loss, Harlem got nine kills, 10 assists and six aces from Erin LaMere, while Ticia Cliff totaled 22 digs and five blocks.
