Havre Middle School announces its students of the month

Kennedy Bailey is the Havre Middle School sixth-grade student of the month.

She is the daughter of Tate and Hillarie Bailey. She has one brother, Dalton, and one sister, Breanna.

Bailey is involved in band and hopes to represent the HMS Mustangs in volleyball next year.

She enjoys playing the piano and saxophone, drawing and art.  She also loves to read.

Bailey's teachers say she "is such a joy to teach."

She is positive, upbeat, kind, attentive and dedicated, they said. She works hard in class going above and beyond what is necessary.  Her plans include writing her own book series and illustrating them.

Her goal is to continue to do well in school and receive scholarships to pay for college.

The middle school's seventh grade is represented by Willie LaSmith as Student of the Month for October.

She is the daughter of Roger and Julianne LaSmith.

LaSmith has one sister, Megan Quintero, and one brother, Alexander Quintero. She participates in the band at HMS.

Her other hobbies include soccer, swimming and spending time with friends and family.

LaSmith's teachers said that she is motivated and is diligent about her school work. She is a helpful young lady who sees things to be done and just does it without being asked.

"She's a ray of sunshine," one teacher said.

LaSmith plans to go to college and become a teacher.

Student of the Month for eighth grade for October is Emily Hannum.  She is the daughter to Natalie and Darrel Hannum. She has one sister, Laney, and one brother, Marshall.

Hannum represents the Mustangs well in basketball and volleyball. She said she really enjoys having fun with friends.

Her teachers said they have noticed how hard she works. She takes responsibility for herself and her grades.

She is consistently communicating with her teachers to enhance her learning, the teachers said.  Her work effort is admired.

She is someone who is naturally quiet, but will go out of her comfort zone and answer questions in class when others are silent.

Hannum plans to go to college, pursue a law degree and become an attorney.
