Casino thief pleads guilty

Amber Nicole Wells, one of the three women who were charged with felonies for stealing from a Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation casino, pleaded guilty Tuesday.

She, along with Maria Rose Newton and Melinda Marie Descharm, on or around Jan. 20, 2013, stole more than $1,000 from the casino, her indictment reads.

Wells pleaded guilty at her 2:30 p.m. hearing Tuesday at Missouri River Federal Courthouse in Great Falls.

Wells’ sentencing is set for April 15 at 2:30 p.m., where she faces a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment with three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

She was released pending sentencing.

A pretrial conference in Descharm’s case will be Jan. 12.

Newtown has pleaded guilty and will be sentenced Jan. 28.
