Montana Pork Producers Council set for Thursday, Jan. 22, coinciding with MAGIE Ag Expo

Montana Pork Producers Council has invited Montana pork producers to attend its annual meeting Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Mansfield Civic Center in Great Falls.

The event coincides with the MAGIE Ag Expo. The theme is “Taking Charge of Change” focusing on the impacts of proactive issue management and technology in swine production.

National Pork Producers Council CEO Neil Dierks will provide his perspective on issues affecting agriculture and share his experiences leading the swine industry’s legislative organization. In this position, he is responsible for the overall implementation of all NPPC programs. Beginning in 1990, Dierks served the national orgnaization in a series of senior executive positions, including Executive Director of Operations, Vice President for Research and Education and Senior Vice President for Programs.

Speaker Sinnika Waugh will teach producers to tackle prioritization, delegation, and valuable time-management techniques using her tried-and-true 3-step problem solving process and electronic tools such as email in the session “Get More Done Now.” Waugh is founder of Your Next Clear Step, a project management and business analysis coaching firm based in Iowa.

Registration and tradeshow begins at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 22. Educational sessions begin at 9:45 am. Other highlights include updates from the National Pork Board, the announcement of state winners in the Symbol of Excellence youth carcass contest and an ag safety workshop. The MPPC membership will elect officers and directors and review industry issues late that afternoon in a general meeting. A social will follow with an evening meal served featuring Montana products.
