United teams playing well

The Hi-Line United U14 team was back in action this past weekend, but this time the United hit the road, traveling to Big Timber for a pair of soccer matches Saturday.

The first match pitted the United up against the host team Big Timber and despite a solid effort the United fell 7-4. Following that match, the United took on Polson to close out the day and were shutout in another loss to Polson.

There were still positives to take away for the United, particularly against Big Timber thanks to a hat trick from Cole Hanson, who scored three of his team’s four goals in the loss. The other goal came from Rowland Snyder, who also had two assists. Max Olsen was also credited with an assist. August Eckler had six saves in goal, while Gabe Triplett had four saves. Eckler finished the second game against Polson with 11 saves.

“The kids played amazing, their best ever,” United coach Jenny Wilting said. “Unfortunately, we just came up short. We were missing two of our starters and Polson is just a tough team. We are halfway through our season and we are going to improve and play hard to secure our first win. We are not giving up.”

The United U14 team will be back in action this Saturday when they will travel to Bozeman. They will play Big Timber at 1 p.m. and Bozeman at 4:30 p.m. The U19 team will travel to Great Falls and take on Great Falls at 9 a.m. Saturday before taking on Big Timber at 12:30 p.m.
