Langel scholarship

Mackenzie Hansen, 2015 graduate of North Star High School in Rudyard, has been named the 2015 Tim Langel Memorial Scholarship recipient.

Hansen, daughter of Todd and Angie Hansen of Gildford, has been involved in everything during her high school career, from sports to music, class government, church youth group, FCCLA, Skills USA, BPA and HOBY.

She has received honors for academic all-state in volleyball and basketball for four years and track and field for two years. She has also been the class president for the past two years. In addition, she has helped in the community with cleaning parks and ditches, raised money for the Make A Wish Foundation and Relay For Life.

Mackenzie plans to pursue a degree in animal science/bBiology and become a veterinarian.

This $500 scholarship is funded by Alberta Langel and family along with friends.

Tim Langel, son of Richard and Alberta Langel, was a 1984 graduate of Blue Sky High School who lost his life in a traffic accident. Each year the Langel family honors Tim's memory as he was a student who didn't care about running with the "in" crowd, who worked hard to get along with others, and who remembered the Golden Rule.

This scholarship honors students who show their potential to become assets in their future communities. This scholarship is open to all graduates of North Star High School.
