Gunderson to play in Badlands Bowl

Gavin Gunderson put together a tremendous senior season in football last fall. But, his days of putting on the helmet and shoulder pads aren't over quite yet, as he will play in the 2015 Badlands Bowl this Saturday.

The Badlands Bowl, which pits standout high school players from Montana and North Dakota against each other, will take place Saturday in Miles City. Kickoff will be at 6 p.m.

Gunderson, who helped lead the Chinook Sugarbeeters to the doorstep of the Class C 8-Man football state championship this fall, was one of the few 8-man football players to earn a spot on the roster.

Gunderson put together an incredible individual season for the Beeters, scoring more than 20 rushing touchdowns and earning All-State honors as both a running back and linebacker. He helped the Beeters to a 10-3 overall record and three wins in the Class C 8-man football playoffs. The only other Class C player to represent Montana at the Badlands Bowl will be is Trent Farnworth, a defensive lineman from Wibaux.

This will be the second All-Star game of the summer for Gunderson, who also took part in the Bob Cleverly 8-man All-Star game in Butte earlier this month.

The Montana team will try to avenge a 25-22 loss to North Dakota last season in the game. This year's game will be the 22nd edition and thus far, Montana has won 15 times. The game starts at 6 p.m., Saturday will available online for live streaming.
