'Today' show on Havre to air July 28

Havre will be in the national spotlight Tuesday, July 28.

That’s when the “Today” show will run a piece on the restoration of the Havre Historic Post Office.

Drs. Marc Whitacre and Erica Farmer said “Today” officials let them know when the piece will air.

The segment is about everyday people who overcome challenges.

Whitacre said he didn’t know how long the segment would be or what time it would run on the two-hour NBC morning show.

The couple bought the dilapidated post office shortly after they started working at the Northern Montana Vision Center.

After the U.S. postal service vacated the building, it went through several owners, and its future was in doubt.

Farmer and Whitacre rehabilitated the building themselves, restoring it to what it looked like when it served as the federal post office and court house.

“We’re excited to see the program,” Farmer said.
