Hendersons grow garden of the week

By Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club

The yard of Ginny and Dick Henderson, 1 Saddle Butte Drive, has been chosen as the Garden of the Week by the Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club.

Every foot of the well-thought-out landscape is adorned on the corner lot at 5th Avenue and Saddle Butte Drive.

They have a decorated area with a green bird bath, baby deer, squirrels and frogs among the yard art trellis, flags, statue people and a wishing well with a crank-up rope. Annuals color this area well.

Naturalized tall grasses, birds, bug ornaments, filled watering cans and hanging pots, as well as large cream-colored ceramic pots containing colorful geraniums and annuals that also match the home color are placed along the back fence and garage walkway.

Wind spinners and handing/standing planters decorate the backyard patio table and chair area.

These lovely folks are older, but they work daily in their well-groomed yard. They give credit to their daughter, Karen Terrell, who came to work at Montana State University-Northern from Minnesota, with knowledge from working at a greenhouse for their yard improvements of late.

Their creamed-colored home looks natural among the evergreen, low-growing shrubs and attractive perennials, which are blooming early this month.

Matching pots decorate the front entry step nicely. A rosy-red hanging geranium planter accents the table and chairs there for enjoying a cool morning or evening spent on the front porch.

An island-bed of flowers has front yard appeal with a birth bath to invite nature and birds into the yard.

Lily type flowers are predominate in this attractive yard. Some of the specimens, Garden Club members believe they saw, are saponaria tall grasses, hydrangeas red-orange yarrow, yellow daisies, black-leaved daisies, bachelor purple aquilegias, tiger lilies, pink blooming hostas with their white-edged graceful leaves and orange rows of day lilies along the sidewalk area of 5th Avenue,

The public is invited to drive by the Henderson home to enjoy the view.
