Obituary - George Thomas Renaker Jr.

George Thomas Renaker Jr., 80, passed away due to natural causes at the Care and Comfort Home in Havre, Montana, on Thursday, July 16, 2015.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Ark Church in Havre, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions are welcome in care of the Care and Comfort Home of Havre, or any other charity of one's choosing.

He was born Feb. 9, 1935 in Glasgow, Montana, the only son of George Thomas Renaker Sr. and Inger Anne Yates. He graduated high school in Havre, Montana, in 1954.

Tom served his country as a member of the Montana National Guard from '52 to '54, and then enlisted in the Navy, serving as a corpsman until 1958. 

Tom married Doris Kathleen Green in 1955 and they lived in in the San Diego area until he was discharged from the Navy. They then moved back to the Northwest, living in Great Falls, Spokane, Missoula and Plentywood as he worked for the J.C. Penney Company.  In 1974, they moved to Havre and he took over his father's business, Cavalier's for Men, with his business partner, Doug Ross. He retired in 1995 and he and Doris become snowbirds, moving to Yuma, Arizona, for the winter.  He was avid in his faith and helped found the Ark Church in Havre. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and camping and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Renaker; son Steve (Pam) Renaker; and daughter, Karrie (Kevin) Barsotti, all of Havre, grandchildren Kasey (Tiffany) Barsotti, Kyle Renaker, Kelsie (Colby) Mader, Brett (Candice) Renaker, Kade Barsotti; and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Asher Barsotti and Reese Mader. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Diane Abernathy of Cut Bank, and two sons, George Thomas Renaker III in 2002 and Michael John Renaker in 2014; and a grandson, Joshua Thomas Renaker in 1987.
