National Night Out set for Tuesday

National Night Out, an opportunity to build relationships between the community and law enforcement, will take place 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Student Union Building lawn at Montana State University-Northern.

The Havre Police Department, which is sponsoring the event, says it hopes the event will develop neighborhood camaraderie.

There will be a free barbecue, though donations will be accepted for My Neighbor in Need.

A police helicopter will be on display, and kids can get in the cockpit and learn about the controls and pretend they are flying the copter.

There will be a raffle for a bicycle. Tickets will be sold until 7:30 p.m., when the drawing will be held. Tickets are $5 or five tickets for $20. Proceeds will go to Crime Stoppers.

The Havre Police Protective Association will hold a gun raffle. A total of 500 tickets will be sold for $20 each.

Several guns will be raffled off.

Blind Luck will provide the music.

Working with Havre police in sponsoring the festivities are Hill County Sheriff’s Department, U.S. Border Patrol Havre Sector, Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Havre office, Montana Highway Patrol Havre Sector, Hill County Search and Rescue, Havre Fire and EMS, the Havre FBI office and several community organizations.

Several departments will be showing off their equipment and explaining their operations.
