Traffic box art entry display set at pancake feed

Press release

Havre Main Streets Revitalization — a community group dedicated to improving and enlivening Havre’s downtown area and beyond — hosted a contest this month to bring more public art to Havre.

The group reports the first “call for designs” to decorate the traffic control boxes located through town was a success with more than 50 pieces of art submitted, including photography and original art.

Several local artists submitted creative designs that capture the spirit of Havre and its surrounding area, a representative of the group said.

The entries that the group decided best capture the spirit of Havre will be displayed during Havre Festival Days at the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast Saturday, Sept. 19, where formal public input will be gathered by people voting for their five favorites.  After the voting, nine entries will be converted to vinyl box covers and displayed on traffic control boxes around town.

The goal of the project is to use these boxes as canvases to enhance Havre’s visual surroundings.
