MSU-N spikers honored

A pair of Montana State University-Northern volleyball players have been honored by the Frontier Conference this week.

MSU-N sophomore hitter Cassie Krueger was named Frontier Volleyball Attacker of the Week for her outstanding match against UM-Western last Friday night.

Northern won their first conference match with a 3-2 road win over Montana-Western. Krueger averaged 5.6 kills with a .242 attack percentage. She also averaged 3.80 digs per set. She tallied 28 kills, which is tied for second all-time in a five-set match for Northern, while also totaling 19 digs and two blocks.

Junior libero Jacy Vining was also named Volleyball Defender of the Week. Vining averaged 6.60 digs per set. She was perfect in both service and reception percentage. She finished the win over Western with 33 digs.

Emily Russell was also nominated for Volleyball Setter of the Week. The Skylights have a bye week before turning to action Oct. 15 at Rocky Mountain College. MSU-N isn't home againt until Oct. 24 when the Skylights host the UM-Western Bulldogs.
