Pizza Hut benefit to help 2-year-old in cancer fight

On July 14, Bradley and Mandy Briney of Kalispell brought their two-year-old daughter, Thelma Mae, to the emergency room with a bad tummy ache

A large mass was found in her stomach, and after she was rushed to Seattle Children’s Hospital, it was determined that she had a very rare form of cancer. Spots were found on her lungs.

She has undergone extensive treatment, surgeries, and high doses of chemotherapy since then.

Thelma has a long road ahead of her, but doctors are hopeful that things will continue to get better.

The experience has taken a toll on the family — emotionally and financially,

Mom and dad have stayed by her bedside throughout the ordeal, but Mandy, a teacher, and Bradley, a contractor, have been out of work, caring for their hospitalized daughter.

Thelma is the granddaughter of Robert and Judy Williams of Big Sandy, who are well known for their work in the Havre area.

Kalispell friends are helping out, and there was a big benefit in Big Sandy to raise funds to help out the family.

Now, Havre friends get a chance to chip in while having some pizza.

Pizza Hut will hold a benefit Thursday.

Anyone who orders food at the Havre Pizza Hut — delivery, takeout or eat-in — can take part.

When people tell their wait staff they are taking part in the benefit for Thelma, 20 percent of the price will go to the cause.

The money will help the Brineys get through the next six to eight months they will be at Thelma’s bedside in the Seattle hospital.
