Cody was born on July 24, 1990, in Havre to Gerald R. and Luanne (Johnson) Four Colors. He was raised in Rocky Boy, graduating from Rocky Boy High School in 2008. Cody studied welding at Montana State University-Northern for a time, riding on the rodeo team there. More recently, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Daylite Excavation Inc.

Bullriding was his passion. He was an MHSRA qualifier 2005-2008, and a member of Elite Professional Bull Riding. At the age of 17, Cody qualified for Indian National Finals Rodeo for the first time and continued his qualification streak for a total of four years. In 2009, he was invited by Ty Murray to ride in the Ty Murray Invitational PBR in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and, in 2010, he made it to the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals.

Cody enjoyed most outdoor pursuits, hunting and fishing being two of his favorites. He also enjoyed acting as a self-taught mechanic and watching old Western movies. He adored his children, and cherished time spent with them. He was especially close to his grandparents during their lives, and missed them all dearly. He was a social individual, usually found with friends, and always willing to give of his time and energy to help others. He especially loved to mentor younger potential bull riders.

Cody was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Tom Hicks, John Four Colors, Alex Weasel Boy, Alvin Johnson, and Enos Johnson, Sr .; his grandmothers, Mary Rose Weasel Boy and Mary Margaret Johnson; his brother, Kyle Standing Rock; and his uncles, John Sinclair and John Rodney Four Colors.
