Americans add to Nationals difficult losing streak

The Glacier Nationals returned to the Havre Ice Dome this past weekend to take on the Great Falls in a Frontier Division battle.

Yet, the Nationals were still unable to end their lengthy winless streak as they fell to the Americans by the score of 7-1 Saturday night.

The Americans lead the Frontier, a division in the North American Tier 3 Hockey League, and against the Nationals, Great Falls flew out of the gates, getting two goals in the first period by Austin Krantz and Tyler Garcia. In the second period, Great Falls took complete control of the game with three goals, once each by Josh Larson, Adam Apangalook and Richard Bernhards.

Bernhards added another goal to start the third period, which extended the Great Falls lead to 6-0. Glacier finally managed to get something going offensively in the final stanza as Trevor Jensen scored with 14:06 left in the game to make the score 6-1 in favor of Great Falls.

Yet, that would be the lone bright spot on the night for Glacier as the Americans scored again before the game was over as Jacob Draves found the back of the net to make the final score 7-1.

Lauren Massie earned the win for the Americans as he stopped 23 of the 24 shot attempts he faced. Kevin Hale got the loss for the Nationals after allowing seven goals on 56 shots on goal.

With the loss, the Nationals are 2-25-2 on the season and sit in last place in the Frontier with six points. Glacier will be back in action this weekend when it hosts the Billings Bulls Friday and Saturday night this wth both games at the Havre Ice Dome.
