Hi-Line Living preview: Catch of the day ... and a KISS for luck

'Hooked On Fishing - Not On Drugs'

Third-graders from Lincoln-McKinley Primary School went ice fishing Tuesday morning as part of a program designed to help kids learn and stay off drugs.

The national program "Hooked On Fishing - Not On Drugs" provides fishing equipment for students and training and curriculum for teachers. The fish are used in math, science and art curriculum.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks instructor Dave Hagengruber gave a short tutorial before the 41 students from Jane Leinwand and Kassie Kudrna's third-grade classes dipped their lines in the pond. It didn't take long before someone caught the first fish of the morning.

Havre Daily News will feature a full-length article with photos in Friday's Hi-Line Living.
