Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Brooke Nicholson, Chinook Basketball

Chinook senior basketball player Brooke Nicholson has done a lot of special things in her career. And she did another one last Thursday night when she poured in 30 points in the Sugarbeeters' win over Class B rival Harlem in Chinook. In her last two games, which included a win over Turner, Nicholson averaged 22 points per game. And this season, she is one of the leading scorers in the District 9C. Nicholson, already an All-State basketball player, is also an All-State performer on the volleyball court, and will be a favorite to capture the B-C state singles championship this spring for the Chinook tennis team.

Martin Wilkie, Havre Wrestling

Seven Havre High wrestlers won individual titles at last Saturday's Eastern A divisonal in Havre. Included in that group was sensational freshman Martin Wilkie, who not only won the 120-pound title, but probably wrestled the most dramatic match of the tournament. Wilkie scored late in the third period to beat Lewistown's Caleb Birdwell to earn the championship in his first season, a season that has seen him go an impressive 40-7. Now, Wilkie will look to take the next step when he guns for a state championship at his first All-Class state tournament in Billings.
