Skylights sign Butte High spiker

The 2016 recruiting class is starting to grow for Montana State University-Northern volleyball coach Bill Huebsch. And the Skylights recently landed a big prospect.

Huebsch announced the signing of Butte High's Hannah Amtmann to an NAIA national letter of intent. Amtmann is a 5-4 libero, who, not only is an outstanding volleyball player, but also a fine student. She carries a 3.8 GPA and has received multiple Academic All-State honors and is a member of the National Honors Society and the Science National Honors Society.

During her time at Butte High School, she has lettered three times in volleyball.  As a junior, she was selected as an All-Conference Honorable Mention libero as well as being named Butte High’s Volleyball Most Valuable Player.  Her senior year, as the team captain, she set the record at Butte for most digs in a season.

Amtmann also received First-Team All-Conference, Second-Team All-State, and was placed on the Great Falls Tribune Super-State Volleyball Team as a libero.  She led Class AA in most digs this year and was named the Most Valuable Player for the Bulldogs again this year.

Amtmann plays for Montana Volleyball Academy, who will be attending the USA Volleyball National Tournament in June.  She also has two letters in swimming and three letters in tennis.

"We are thrilled a player of Hannah’s ability and character has chosen Northern," Huebsch said. "She comes from one of the top clubs in Montana and has played in many high level matches, which will help her easily transition to the college game.  She is a tenacious defender and accurate server and we look forward to her joining our team this fall.”

Amtmann said she chose Northern because of the location, and the amazing volleyball and nursing programs. She is the daughter of John Amtmann and Kelly Amtmann and has three sisters.
