Local Golf Report: Chinook golf teams play at state tourney

From Tee to Green...

Rain, rain and more rain. That was the story line last week on the local golf scene.

Rains, and lots of it, canceled both nights of men’s league at Prairie Farms Golf Course last week, as well as the ladies’ last Thursday night. Rains soaked Beaver Creek Golf Course and the Chinook Golf Club as well.

But with sunny skies predicted for most of this week, the action should resume.

And sunny skies will be what the Chinook Sugarbeeters are hoping for when they invade the Hamilton Country Club for this week’s Class C state gold tournament. The action started Monday and will continue today. Chinook’s boys are certainly one of the favorites to win the Class B title, and I would like to wish all the Sugarbeeters and head coach Mike Seymour best of luck in Hamilton. The results from Chinook’s state tournament can be found in next week’s Havre Daily News.

Meanwhile, the tournament scene will be heating up soon enough in our area, and one of the first is the annual Golfing for a Cure for Cancer Tournament. This year’s event, put on by the Havre Women’s Golf Association, is set for June 4 at Prairie Farms. This tournament is a way to support those battling all forms of cancer. Last year, the association raised approximately $23,000 to assist in defraying the costs associated with cancer to anyone along the Hi-Line who is making the courageous battle with any type of cancer.
