Local author releases novel

Local author Ren Meadows has recently self-published her first novel, "Fairy Tales and Horror Stories."

Meadows, whose actual name is Barb Chamberlain, has written a contemporary novel about a girl who falls in love with her twin brother's best friend. The hero, Alyssa Wade, must endure and overcome her abusive father's prejudice toward her love interest, while dealing with internal issues and a stalker at the same time.

Meadows has written the story from two viewpoints, the second being from that of Alyssa's love interest, Race Savage, who has come back home "to find that the gangly little girl he used to know has more than grown up."

Meadows said she wrote the book three years ago, but re-wrote it two years later, adding the second viewpoint. She plans to write two more books in the series. She said she has begun the second book. The next two will be based on other characters that have been introduced in "Fairy Tales and Horror Stories."

Meadows has been living in Havre for five years, having moved from Bozeman. Her favorite book is "Gone with the Wind" and she also likes the Harry Potter series and Danielle Steel novels.

"Fairy Tales and Horror Stories" can be found on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. It should also be available in e-format soon.
