Library re-opening on Saturdays

The Havre-Hill County Library will be opening on Saturdays from noon to 5 again. These hours will start Saturday, Nov. 19.

Annual turkey raffle set

The Kremlin Volunteer Fire Department is holding its annual Turkey Raffle fundraiser Saturday at The Walleye Tavern on U.S. Highway 2 near Fresno Dam.

The fundraiser starts at 7 p.m. with cards and dice games and socializing, with a raffle drawing and a barbecue feed set to start at midnight.

Farm Credit awards local grants

NorthWest Farm Credit Services has announced that several local organizations are among the recipients of its 2016 Rural Community Grant awards.

This year’s award winners included Big Sandy Public Schools, $1,000; Havre Girl Scouts, $1,500; Turner Public Schools, $1,000; and Big Flat Grocery in Turner, $1,500.

“We are committed to improving the lives of rural residents throughout the Northwest,” Northwest FCS President and CEO Phil DiPofi said in a press release. “Through Rural Community Grants, our intent is to help meet the economic, education, safety and social needs of rural communities as they age, grow and revitalize.”

Northwest Farm Credit Services awarded more than $265,000 to 170 projects in rural communities in 2016 across Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington in 2016. Since the program’s inception in 2007, Northwest FCS has awarded 634 grants totaling more than $1.2 million.
