Hello God, it's me, Mara

Prayer requests

You know, Lord, an unnamed writer wrote that he had learned it was a good idea, a good practice, to write down the names of the person for whom he prayed. He had a closet in his study where he kept a little prayer desk that his mother had given him many years ago. In that special desk he kept a book, sacred to him, where he wrote each person’s name and each person’s need, for whom he prayed.

Endeavoring to make his prayers more meaningful, after each name recorded, he also entered a specific need. This way he had at his fingertips names and needs when he called upon God to bless his friends according to HIS promise, and their needs of help, hope and health.

He considered it a privilege to bring to the Throne of Grace the names and needs of his beloved family and those with whom he had regular contact. Daily he would bring to God names and needs of those on his list as it seems that nearly everyone is traveling on some sort of a “muddy road.” On their birthdays and anniversaries he would be most specific while praying. The writer did not mention if he recorded answers to prayers, but that also is important, for answers to prayers do encourage us and encourages those for whom we pray.

Lord, we probably do not have a closet or a special prayer desk but we can all write down prayer requests, we call all bring to You the names and needs of our family, friends and dear ones, knowing that You will answer.

If we don’t know how to pray, Your word shows us Your example in Luke 11:1: “… Lord, teach us to pray …” Lord, thank You for teaching us how to pray and thank You for answering all our many prayers.

Love, Mara
