It’s the United Way of Hill County 2017 Campaign once again, and we have been selected as one of the agencies to be recpients of their community wide program. The funding we receive is used for the home delivered meals program and our volunteer program. You have been strong supporters of our Senior Program and the United Way. We would appreciate your continued support for the 2017 year. For further information on donations contact the Senior Center or a United Way representative of your choice. Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much. If we all give just a little, I know we will be successful. You can pick up a copy of the pledge form at the Senior Center.

When you support the United Way, you also support the Senior Center.

Center exercise class resumes

Every Monday, except holidays, it’s time to exercise from 10-11 a.m. at the Senior Center back room. Hope to see you there. Classes will begin Feb. 6.

Safe driving

Have you been worried about your driving? Has your family or friends expressed concern? Changes in your health may affect your driving skills over time. Don’t risk hurting yourself or others. Talk to your doctor about any concerns you have about your health and driving.

Safety driving tips:

Be aware of your:

• Stiff joints and muscles

• Trouble seeing

• Trouble hearing

• Slower reaction time and reflexes

• Medications can affect driving

• Be a safe driver

• Be aware of dementia and driving

Do you have concerns about an older driver; having “The Talk” about driving; or figuring out how you will get around?

We all age differently. For this reason, there is no way to set one age when everyone should stop driving.

So, how do you know if you should stop? Have conversations with loved ones; become aware of your driving behavior and then you can make an informed decision regarding your driving.
