Americans take two from Havre

The Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team was back in the Havre Ice Dome this past weekend, but the visiting Great Falls Americans made sure it wasn’t a happy homecoming for the Ice Hawks.

Saturday, Great Falls blanked the Ice Hawks 6-0. The Americans scored three goals in the first period, two more in the second and one in the third. Havre’s offense had plenty of chances with 35 shots on goal, but the Americans made save after save. Havre goalie Kinzee Peterson stopped 22 shots.

The Americans returned to the Ice Dome Sunday and put six more goals on the board against the Ice Hawks in a 6-1 victory. Peterson stopped 27 Great Falls shots between the pipes.

Offensively, Havre was again on the attack, getting 33 shots on Great Falls’ goalie Colton Rasmussen. But only Nicholas Stump was able to find the back of the net for the Ice Hawks, scoring on an assist from Jeffrey Ralph.

Havre hits the road this weekend for games against the Bozeman Ice Dogs Saturday and Sunday, before wrapping up the regular season against Glasgow.
