Northern reschedules bingo to make room for basketball

Due to the Montana State University-Northern Lights men’s basketball team playing host to Rocky Mountain College in the quarterfinals of the Frontier Conference playoffs, Northern is rescheduling its monthly bingo night for March.

Northern will hold its community bingo Wednesday, March 8, from 5 to 7 p.m.

For $5, people can play bingo in the university Student Union Building Ballroom.

The bingo night normally is held the first Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

The fee is a fundraiser for the Program Council activities, including the prizes for the bingo night.

Middle school to host choral festival

Havre Middle School is hosting a Middle School Invitational Choral Festival Monday, March 6.

This has been a long-time tradition in honor of March’s Music in Our Schools celebration.

Seventh- and eighth-grade students from Sunburst, Shelby, Chester-Joplin-Inverness, Chinook, Turner and Havre Middle School will sing in a large mass choir under the direction of guest conductor, former Havre High School choral director Thomas Baty from Helena.

After a day of rehearsing, an evening concert will be presented at 6:30 p.m. in the Havre Middle School Assembly Room. The repertoire is a diverse program consisting of folk music, multicultural selections and a murder ballad.

The public is invited to attend this no-cost event.

VA officers in Rocky Boy Friday

Judy Loendorf and/or Steve Mulonet, service officers for the Montana Veterans Affairs, will be visiting the following locations and times to meet with veterans who are interested in applying for benefits.  Anyone interested in applying for benefits, should bring a copy of their discharge paperwork (DD214) with them.

  Friday, March 3, Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation at the Rocky Boy Vet Center from 10 a.m. to noon.

  If bad weather exists on the days of travel, people should stay tuned to the local radio stations for updated information regarding the outreach schedule.
