State FFA convention set for next week

People can get involved with the largest convention in Montana March 22-25 in Great Falls.

The 87th Montana FFA State Convention will bring together students and industry professionals alike in the mission to improve the future of agriculture.

At the convention, 1,500 students from all corners of the state are expected. These students will have the opportunity to compete in over 10 different leadership and career development events including prepared public speaking, extemporaneous speaking, parliamentary procedure, creed speaking, agricultural mechanics, agricultural sales and service, livestock evaluation, agronomy, farm business management, talent and the Stars Over Montana Pageant.

Aside from the career development events, there is a multitude of other activities during the convention for all to participate. A tradeshow will showcase more than 25 businesses and colleges. Students will participate in the annual Day of Service to give back to the local community serving with Habitat for Humanity, Great Falls Parks and Recreation and the Great Falls Community Food Bank, to name a few. The convention will culminate with the installation of the eight students who will serve as the 2017-2018 Montana FFA state officers.
