Hello God. It's me, Mara

June

Lord, what could be as new and young as the dawning of a new day in June? The dawning of this new day is fresh, sweet, and innocent! It awakens slowly to the swelling music of birdsong. The mists of night still lie in the valleys. The countryside is revealed with leisurely deliberation, bit by bit, newly created by You, just for this particular day!

There is no haste. This brand-new day begins at its own pace, unaltered by yesterday’s confusions or tomorrow’s worries, doubts and uncertainties. This is another day, another blank page in the endless book of time, another change, another chance to DO. The wonder of new beginnings is everywhere in the dew-wet grass, in the breeze-shaken leaves, in the shimmering spider web and on the night-washed faces of the flowers in the flower beds and in the garden. The world is waking up — it is hushed and waiting.

Even the sunrise is careful when it comes purposeful and every so slowly over the horizon. The first rays bathe the hilltops in a gentle glow and creep slowly down the hillside, jewelling the leaves and twinkling the grass, yard by yard. Robins sing as though their song were newly discovered and written for them to sing on this day alone. The mist swivels in no haste to depart the river that inspired it to leisurely swirl in the sunrise. Its waters are sea-bound.  The waters swiftness is paced and deliberate by the gentle fall of the land itself. Water and time refuse to be hurried by busy man’s impatience.

A whole new day lies ahead, a day that never was before, a day that never will be again. You know, Lord, being aware of this innocent day is like Psalm 150:6 “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the LORD!”  Thank You, Lord, for a beautiful June Day.

Love, Mara
