Skylights ink power forward

The start of a new school year, and the beginning of the 2017-18 NAIA women’s basketball season is getting closer and closer. And Montana State University-Northern head coach Chris Mouat is still adding to his roster.

Mouat recently announced the addition of junior college post player Hazel Hill to the Skylights’ program. Hill is a 6-1 post player from Gavilan College (California).

This season, Hill helped lead Gavilan College to their first-ever appearance in the California Community College Athletic Association state tournament. The Rams had an overall record of 18-7 and 7-5 in conference play. Hill averaged 7 points and 6 rebounds per game.

“Hazel brings added depth to the post position,” Mouat said. “She is strong and is a good presence on the boards. What is most exciting for us is the fact that Hazel still has a ton of room for growth and improvement. I think she will make an impact for us in many areas.”

Hill attended Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill, California. Sobrato High School is a member of the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League. There, she earned Junior of the Year and Senior of the Year, and league Most Valuable Player honors. She was also named the Most Valuable Player in the Blossom Valley Athletic League Senior Showcase.

Hill is the daughter of Greg and Renea Hill, who reside in San Jose, California. She plans on majoring in health promotion at MSU-Northern.
