Name of traffic fatality in Havre released

While Havre Police have not yet returned calls asking for details about an Aug. 15 crash in Havre that ended in the death of a man, the Hill County coroner has released the name of the fatality.

Hill County Sheriff and Coroner Jamie Ross said Tuesday that Jason Skidmore, 34, died in a Great Falls Hospital Aug. 15 as a result of injuries sustained in a crash on Cemetery Road earlier that day.

Ross referred all questions about the crash to the police department, the lead agency in the investigation.

Calls to the police department Tuesday asking about the crash were referred to Chief Gabe Matosich, who was not in the office. Matosich had not replied to a message asking about the incident by printing deadline this morning.

The Havre Daily News began inquiring about the crash after several people called the newspaper asking for information about it.

According to the police dispatch log, officers investigated a call made at 12:24 a.m. Aug. 15 that a crash involving an injury had occurred on Ninth Street West near Highland Cemetery. The caller provided no additional information, the log said.

No other details were provided in the dispatch log.
