Letter to the Editor - City firefighters' on East Fork Fire

Editor,

The Havre firefighters would like to thank everyone for their extraordinary efforts with the East Fork Fire. The generosity of this community was an amazing thing to see.

We offer a differing explanation to what we have been hearing from the public about the Havre firefighters and why we did not respond to this fire. A Hill County water tender and a command unit from the Havre Fire Department responded to the fire, operated by the HFD chief and assistant chief, however, the firefighters were not requested by HFD command to respond.

As the fire got larger and pre-evacuation orders were given, several firefighters from Havre Fire Department, due to their sense of public service, self-deployed in their own vehicles to help out wherever they could. We take great pride in our job and are here to protect the City of Havre and Hill County 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please contact your city officials.

Again, thank you for all of your support. It is greatly appreciated.
